Car Radio/Nexus 5

I have a 1998 Nissan pickup and don't want to get a spiffy new radio for the truck. But, I'd like to listen to tunes when I travel. The old radio is an AM/FM-Cassette Player. I'm no electrical engineer but could a radio tech wire the radio so a earphone plug would go in my Nexus 5 and would play music through the car's system?

It should be possible, yes. An Aux input, if not available on the music player, can be added. Note that audio quality will suffer a little bit, but some people don't even notice.
Do consider the cost of getting this done - if it is a few bucks, sure. But if it gets close to the cost of a new music player, it may not be worth it. A new radio, with built in Bluetooth, and/or Aux input can often be had for $50-$100.

I remember those from years ago when CD Players were new (and not standard in cars) and you could use them to play a portable player through the headphone jack. Happy Listening! A FM Transmitter would work as well but I always found them frustrating.

Thanks, Oskar. I live in Oaxaca, Mexico, and it isn't the technological center of the universe. I took a printout of the device to the best electronic parts store and showed it to them. Cassette players aren't common now but might be more common here than in the U.S. After a moment of frowning the young man, who might never have seen a cassette perked up and ran to a wall, climbed a ladder, and came back with one of the gizmos. It cost me about $4.50. I walked home and tried it in the truck. Worked fine. Now I'll have tunes on my six-hour drive to the coast.

My car is a 1998 Camry and has a cassette player and I use one of those. It works real good. But I would go with a better brand name than Insten. I bought a Monster cassette adaptor with gold contacts for $20.
