Carrier Billing on the Nexus 5X

Has anyone been able to get Google Play carrier billing to work on the 5X? I am on Verizon and attempted to buy something but it was declined, I assume because this is not a carrier phone from Verizon. Has anyone tried as well on Verizon or other carriers to see if it works?
