Yes this is true. I mean in the past with carrier services, I never really noticed that much of a battery drain, but ever since the last week or so, that's when I noticed it.It happens and can with any apps .
So just to update you quickly, thought I would re-update and enable my carrier services in the play store for RCS. I'll have to let you know what happens with the battery usage again. LolIt happens and can with any apps .
Ok , definitelySo just to update you quickly, thought I would re-update and enable my carrier services in the play store for RCS. I'll have to let you know what happens with the battery usage again. Lol
So I left carrier services enable overnight. Just checked my battery usage just now, and in my battery usage breakdown my phone shows that carrier services without my using text messaging at all use 5% of my battery for no reason. It shouldn't be using 5% of battery when I'm not using it. I don't understand what's going on.... In my play store, I just uninstalled and disabled carrier services again for now.Ok , definitely![]()
I'm surprised you still having a issue with it .So I left carrier services enable overnight. Just checked my battery usage just now, and in my battery usage breakdown my phone shows that carrier services without my using text messaging at all use 5% of my battery for no reason. I mean, I'm not sure if it's issues or just my anal battery usage observations lol like I said, batter usage said carrier services used 5% of battery when I wasn't using it overnight at all. then I started to recharge my phone a little bit this morning. Never got a chance to screenshot it. This is currently what my battery usage looks like now...I'm surprised you still having a issue with it .
Its not there in the battery stat?I mean, I'm not sure if it's issues or just my anal battery usage observations lol like I said, batter usage said carrier services used 5% of battery when I wasn't using it overnight at all. then I started to recharge my phone a little bit this morning. No, because once I boosted my phone's battery a little bit after last night, so once you start recharging the phone the battery usage stats change. Its not there in the battery stat?
I mean don't get me wrong dude, I want to use chat RCS, but other than my brother-in-law I have no one else to use it with. Its not there in the battery stat?
Yeah usage status gets reset when it gets 90% or moreNo, because once I boosted my phone's battery a little bit after last night, so once you start recharging the phone the battery usage stats change.
It's not just for read receipts , for hight quality video and pictures.I mean don't get me wrong dude, I want to use chat RCS, but other than my brother-in-law I have no one else to use it with.
Yes, this is very true. However for high quality videos and pictures I just sent them through Google photos. I do know what you mean with the 110 MB limitation for bandwidth now though.Yeah usage status gets reset when it gets 90% or moreIt's not just for read receipts , for hight quality video and pictures.
Yeah i understand everyone has their own ways to this and I use different apps to do those things also .Yes, this is very true. However for high quality videos and pictures I just sent them through Google photos. I do know what you mean with the 110 MB limitation for bandwidth now though.
Yeah I know. I mean RCS is a great chat feature don't get me wrong. Just not at the expense of battery drainage if you know what I mean...Yeah i understand everyone has their own ways to this and I use different apps to do those things also .
I agree , hopefully you get it resolved with next update .Yeah I know. I mean RCS is a great chat feature don't get me wrong. Just not at the expense of battery drainage if you know what I mean...![]()
Haha, yeah hopefully this battery drain issue gets fixed soon, that's all I can say.I agree , hopefully you get it resolved with next update .

Yeah I hear you. I mean I just find it odd that the carrier service is application is always a top battery draining contender in my list for applications that are draining my battery. How much is it during my battery I don't know. But I know that it's a top contender. Would I love to use the RCS feature? sure, however no one else in my life besides my brother-in-law with his Pixel 3 uses the chat feature so it's not as useful to me yet unfortunately. for sending a ton of pictures and video once, I just sent it through Google photos. I mean, teach their own If you like it great and I do want to love the future I think it's a great feature if more people with smartphones used it I hope Apple adopts RCS because if they don't, there's almost no reason to use the chat feature. I am glad to hear that you and your wife are using the chat feature though! Good for you.I just got my RCS working and as part of the set-up it asked me to allow the chat feature to run in the background, it said it could possibly be a slight battery drain... so far I haven't noticed anything so it must be pretty slight. Me and my wife use the RCS features a lot... very handy.
In the big picture is 5% battery drain really going to change anything? I think down the road you might start finding RCS more useful. I had no intention of activating it because I never thought I'd need it... but recently that changed ;-)
