AT&T Galaxy S8 Case free

Why not try the Samsung clear cover? It's a barely-there case with a clear back and sides that are color-coded to your phone. This way you enjoy the full beauty of the phone but with protection from scratches and smudges, and maybe a smidgen of protection in case of an indoor fall. Did this with my S6 and S7. My S8+ orchid gray pre-ordered case will arrive tomorrow with overnight shipping. The Samsung-brand cases were on hold until today.

You'll find many strong preferences both for and against using a case. Either choice is perfectly reasonable, although some people on both sides have a hard time accepting that. :)

I myself am on your side. I take reasonable precautions with my phone, and my work environment is an office rather than a construction site or machine shop, so I have never needed a case or screen protector or insurance. I have never cracked a phone, and in more than ten years have gotten only two micro-scratches on any of my phones: one small scratch on my Note 5 screen (only visible in bright light with the screen off), and one tiny scratch on the back of my S7 Edge.

Of course, chances are that I'll break something eventually. But the key question is how often that happens. If it's only once a decade or longer, then it's less trouble and expense to pay it off yourself when it happens than to use additional protection the whole time. And even with additional protection, phones still break when they fall (though they break somewhat less often).

On the other hand, there are people who swear that no matter how careful they think they are, their phones always get scratched up, or fall and crack. All I can say is that's not been my own experience.
