cdma & gsm

Perhaps I missed something. Your thread is titled CDMA &GSM but does not mention either. CDMA and GSM both have "2G" and 3G. They breakdown like this

CDMA
1x
1xRTT (2G) (read as 1 carrier channel radio transmission technology)
1xEVDO Revision 0 (Basic 3G) (1 Carrier Channel Evolution Data Optimized)
1xEVDO Revision A (Better 3G)
1xEVDO Revision A + WiMAX (Wireless interoperability platform for Microwave Access)
1xEVDO Revision A + 4GLTE

GSM
GSM (1st iteration)
General Packet Radio Service/GPRS (Actual 2G)
Enhanced Data Platform for GSM Evolution (2.5/3G)
Universal Mobile Telephone Service/UMTS (3G)
High Speed (data) Packet Access/HSPA/HSDPA (3G)
Evolved High Speed Packet Access (3.5G/4G)
Long Term Data Platform for GSM Evolution (4GLTE)

LG G2 mini, if coming to Sprint or Verizon or both would have EVDO Revision A as its baseline 3G technology and 4GLTE as its 4G technology. Sorry for going all nerdy on you but I was fuzzy as to how best to answer your observation.
