I bought a Nexxus 5 to replace my iPod Touch; I don't have plans to use it as my main phone (I have a work supplied phone).
However, I have an old Tmobile flip phone that has a pay as you go plan associated with it, where you can refill minutes online or with cards. I just have to not let the minutes expire - annual event.
I was considering moving this plan to the 5, but I wanted to confirm a couple of things:
1) the sim won't fit as it's not a micro-sim (phone is 5 years old). I assume I could either use a cutter or get Tmobile to swap my account to another sim?
2) More important, once I move the sim to the 5 can I turn the cell portion of the phone off without having to put it in airplane mode, which would disable BT and WiFi? I know I can disable data, which I would definitely have to do with this plan, but I'd like to be able to disable the phone because of battery life and the fact that I sometimes end up in places where Tmobile has no coverage and don't want to kill the battery. I'm assuming the cell is disabled now since there is no sim installed.
Thanks!
