cell reception issue?

I'm having the same problem. I always have full service at my house, regardless of carrier...but for some reason its 1-3 bars and 600-800kbps.

Seems crappy. I'll stick with the phone regardless, but I really hope they fix the issue.

same thing here... but I haven't noticed call quality or data suffering because of the lower reported signal on my phone.

my bb tour and bold had great signals inside my place, but the fascinate doesn't have such a great signal...

I get full bars when the 3G isn't active and drops immediately to 2 bars when the connection goes active.

I took my new Fascinate back to the store last night and got this fix from a rep there, which has worked so far:

Go to the location you need signal in and dial:

*22899

Supposedly this completely disconnects the phone from every tower, then finds the best tower strength and re-connects the phone.

Newbie here - I apologize if this has already been mentioned in the forum but I didn't find this particular number combo - I had tried #228 earlier and got nothing.

According to other stories, the 99 on the end just pushes you into option 2 of a normal *228. I have tried this a few times since doing it when I first got the phone and never noticed a bit of a difference in the speedtest.net app.

I know this may be late to post, but I will tell you all this. You can not compare a Blackberry to Droid when it comes to signal strength. Blackberry, hands down will beat any smartphone in signal strength. Why? Well, Blackberries have 2 internal antennas inside them. Typically the signal strength is far superior. Trust me I would know, I have had the pearl, curve, curve 2, and Tour. All had awesome signal strength, its just a shame the OS sucked. Now, I have a fasincinate and love it but the signal is ass biscuits. I miss my berry in those respects.

I had a BB Pearl before my iPhone (before my Fascinate). With the Pearl, also on Verizon, I couldn't make or maintain calls from the first floor of my house, and needed to stand by a window on the second floor to do so. I've come to realize I just happen to live in a hole in Verizon's network, but the Fascinate can make and maintain calls where my Pearl could never have.

i live in a fringe area on a mtn in tenn.. AT&T used to not work here at all unless you had yer head cocked sideways and looking up, even then it was bad so i went Verizon and that thing always had bars and worked through out the house and property.. my old vx8000 even made and recieved calls when i was over and down the bluff side of our property but my Fascinate has a different character.. sometimes no bars and i have to move it all over the place to make or take a call. so i say yes my fascinate diffinately has a reception problem.. maybe someone will give me the right way to make it have better reception..

Since picking up my Fascinate in late November I've noticed these reception issues. I don't drop calls but even beside a tower (behind where I work) I normally only have two bars. I may have the freak occurrence of 3-4 bars maybe once or twice a month. Calls have not been dropped but my data connection will drop out or stall, and I receive network error messages. I can try again and it'll work fine. I'm amazed at the speed increase on Wifi though. No such issues w/ my previous Droid 1.
