Chamfered edges scratched out of box?

Hey guys, just received a wonderful gift this Christmas in the form of a 6P (Aluminum). I noticed there are a couple of dings in the chamfered edge that were present out of the box. Did anyone else have this issue? I know it's not a huge deal, but I get a little nit-picky with my devices, and just curious if this is common. Having owned a Note 4 in the past, I know they'll eventually get beat up... Just wasn't expecting to see 5-6 little imperfections on a new phone.

That sounds a little peculiar to me, my phone was perfect when it came out of the box. You may want to contact Google and see if they will give you a replacement. Or you could put a case on it and you won't have to see those edges, but they should not be scratched coming out of the box in my opinion.

I attached a couple pictures. Again, this is brand-new, out of the box only about 2 hours (hasn't even been in and out of a pocket yet).

Gonna be hard to see the blemishes from the mobile app. Should be easier on a computer.

I'd hate to return it since I just got it... Dammit. Lol

Unfortunately only you can decide. I personally wouldn't return it since it is so small and will likely happen anyway. But if you not happy just exchange it. In the end it's your device and you have to be happy with it.

You'll love the phone otherwise though. It is fantastic.

Return that unit ASAP. They should send you another one free with 2 day shipping.

That's what I ended up doing. Thanks to Google's 24 hour tech-support I was able to get an exchange order placed. Sucks, but I'd rather those scratches be there from my own negligence.

For sure, just in the short time I've used it I'm floored by how good it is (and I'm currently using a Note 5 and have a N6 in my drawer). Very excited to get my replacement and start daily-ing it.

I love this phone, but QC has definitely suffered in recent weeks. I did not pre-order the phone, but ordered as soon as it was officially released. The phone I received was pristine and flawless, with no marks on it and gleaming chamferred edges. Unfortunately, my first unit died after about 2 weeks. The replacement unit I was sent was covered in sticky feeling finger prints, and the chamferred edges were nicked and scratched in several places, especially near the SIM tray and USB port. I assumed it must have been a returned unit. I called Google to complain, and they processed an immediate overnight replacement without question and with profuse apologies. The third unit arrived in much better condition, but still had fingerprints all over what, on my original unit, had been shining chamferred edges (but at least not sticky this time, and easily cleaned) as well as one small scratch near the SIM tray and one near the USB port. It was not a big enough issue to send back a third time, but I was definitely disappointed in the obviously poorer QC as compared with the original unit.

Mine had a nick on the upper left side straight out of the box. I am also very nit picky with with my stuff, but I just said screw it and put a case on it. Figured I'd waited long enough for a device that I was only going to have for a year anyway. Wouldn't be worth the hassle.
