Change "Launcher" Applications

I'd like to change some of the default "launcher" applications from Phone, Contacts, and Messaging to something else...Say replace Contacts with Email. I can't seem to find a How-To on that. Maybe I just can't come up with the right term for that list of applications.

The Phone, Contacts and Messaging in the app dock at the bottom of TouchWiz? No can do, these are fixed and not changable...

Download launcherpro and it is very easy. You can just press and hold items on your "dock" and change them to what you want. You can even add "swipe actions" which allow the same dock icon to have a second purpose when you swipe it instead of press it.

For example, have a browser icon that when you press it it goes to default browser screen, but when you swipe it it goes to espn bookmark. The possibilities are thrilling.

Your default launcher, touchwiz, will not allow you to change the dock icons.

Also, in launcherpro, you can have multiple docks that can be scrolled through.

If you install Froyo it lets you edit the apps in your dock.

Flashing a new rom on your phone is hardly illegal. Warranty voiding? Yes. Illegal? No.

Thank you Cory for handling this situation with skatanic000.

If anyone else shares skatanic000's sentiments, which I hope they don't, the official version of Froyo will also let you customize your TouchWiz dock and does not require rooting or installation of unofficial software. Hopefully this OS upgrade will be available soon.

Never fight with the mods, administrators, etc. you will lose especially if its done publicly on the forum. If you have problem with a moderator or administrator then handle it in the proper way threw PM.

This has got to be one of the most friendly forums around and offer great advice and the regulars are great people. Enjoy what we have here, don't abuse it.

I want to say that I and I am sure others, think that repsonse is out of line.

Purchasing a product allows you to use however you want.

Asking for advise in these forums allows you to use the response, maybe helpful, maybe not, however you want.

Many of us come here to learn, ask questions, and then make educated decisions on what we want to use or implement.

I personally thank those, especially moderators and develoepers, who do a lot of work and take a lot of personal time to read and share their knowledge with the less techy persons like myself.

Your insulting tone to the mods is unacceptable. If you do not like their suggestions, sign off and quit reading, or go to Sprint Forums, they have lots of advise following the corporate policy, and see what kind of help you get there if you have a question or problem.

But do not insult the reponders not only once, but twice. Nothing I do here is illegal, change are at my risk, and many of these good people have helped me out of a jam when I wanted to make changes to utilize my equipment.
