I currently have a Note 3 on my UDP and am switching to a V10 that I bought. The Note 3 uses a micro sim and the V10 uses a nano sim.

Can I buy a nano sim and activate it online, or will I lose my UDP?

Yes you would be fine so long as it wasn't bought on 2 year service contract

It was purchased on another person's account on DPP in December. I paid it off today and will cancel the line officially at some point later this week.

I just wanted to be sure that purchasing a sim card and activating it online on my own account wouldn't make me lose UDP. I keep reading contradicting stories about people losing their UDP/not losing their UDP when they activate a new sim.

Another option:

Go to Amazon and buy a nano sim cutter. You put the micro sim in it (it only fits one way) and press the handle. It's like a pair of big nail clippers. You can find them for as little as $5, and it saves the hassle of talking to someone from your carrier.

I'll give that a try. Thanks!

You should be fine

That's what I did a while back.

So I got a new SIM card for the V10 and activated it on my account which should have in theory made the Note 3 that was on the account useless.

Both phones seem to have full service still. I turned off mobile data on the Note 3 because I don't know if it's going to do anything crazy to my Verizon account. Do I just ignore this or what? I'm not trying to get Verizon involved.

Can both devices make calls, texts and use data from the same number?

Yes! They both have 100% full service which is crazy. I removed the SIM card from the Note 3 and turned mobile data off. Very strange.

Also did you do a sim swap by activating it online under my verizon or differently?

I did it online under my Verizon. I'm not really that concerned about it, I just thought it was really strange that everything still worked on both phones.
