Change System user agent

I am trying to change my user agent system wide, not just in the browser. I do remember seeing this once when using a hidden dialer menu, but I can't recall what it was. I am running CM 10.2 on a Nexus S

Was this recently because as far as I know there is no general configuration that browsers look at. Each browser either includes or doesn't include a means of changing the user agent, but the idea that all browsers (chrome, Firefox, dolphin, etc) all magically read and abide by some hidden config setting doesn't sound likely. What's wrong with changing it in the browser?

I am trying to convince an app that uses an in-app browser that I am on iOS.

When an app is downloaded, it must get the user agent from somewhere in the system, otherwise there would have to be a different apk for every device and software version.
