Change Vibration Pattern

I agree, it seems like a Textra issue. Not sure why it can't play nice with Android notification settings like every other app I have.

I haven't tried the fix of installing an older version of Textra myself, but I have seen others talk about this in other forums in regards to the custom vibration issue I previously referenced. I had someone on reddit message me at one point that told me that it should work to fix my problem too. Unfortunately, installing an old version of the app and never updating is not something that seems reasonable to me as a fix for this issue

But it's not a Textra issue alone with me, the same thing happens for Signal as well. To me, it seems like it's a Messenger app issue. Does anyone else habe this issue?

I made an account on here specifically to comment.

I have the same exact problem with Textra, it has been driving me absolutely crazy. However, whenever you ask about it, people think that you're talking about the custom vibration pattern that Textra previously allowed you to do, so it's nearly impossible to get help on this.

I don't want Textra to have a custom vibration pattern, I simply want it to follow my global vibration pattern as I have set within Android's notification settings.

So far the only fix I've found is to install an old version of Textra and set the custom vibration pattern within the app itself. I don't want to do this, as newer versions of the app will include security fixes and other stuff. Using an old version shouldn't be an acceptable solution to this problem.

@priceless819 PLEASE let me know if you find a fix for this. I'm really frustrated with this issue and have been looking for a solution for months.

btw, I have a Galaxy S20+

I definitely will. But to test out a theory, let me switch to the generic text app and see what happens, and I ask you to do the same to see what results you get.

Here are my findings.....

Switch to the Generic app - Global Vibration, which is Medium.
Switch back to Textra - Heartbeat comes back.
Switch to Signal as a texting app - Heartbeat.
I Downloaded Chomped as a texting app to test the theory that it's 3rd party apps that this is happening to, and that vibrated on the Global pattern, and that is made by the same developer as Textra.

So leads me to think, would an uninstall and a clean installation of Textra rectify this, as well as Signal?

Just another update, the results with Chomped were false, they actually allow you to change the vibration pattern within the app, so it was set to Normal, and that is why that happened, but when you set it to "Android", the heartbeat pattern happens. So forget that theory. I uninstalled and reinstalled Textra and that didn't help. So I am running out of theories. I need to earn a detective shield if I figure this out.

Sorry, I'm a little late catching up to this thread. Did you send a message to Textra's app development team? Whenever I contacted them, their responses were timely and effective.

Yes I did. They told me to clear the data, like I was doing a reinstall, which didn't work, and they also said this was the first time that they were hearing of this issue.
