Change where apps save data?

Is there a way to edit an apps config to save data to "external" storage rather than looking for an "internal" storage to write to? I lost my SD and running 4.4.2 on a rooted nexus tab and without an SD it's impossible to save anything. I have a storage mounted as external, which is labeled as nand flash... But how to write to that?
