Changing/adding artist image to Google Play Music...?

I found that if you have windows media player, all you have to do is change the specific artwork, on the windows media player, to a lower resolution and then sync it to your phone. The artwork should be there, considering all the factors. I have a Samsung phone as well and have been trying to solve this mystery for a while. I had gotten the music from a disc, and any other music that came from anywhere else always came with the artwork. But then again, I know this doesn't solve the artist picture problem, but for anyone who had been struggling with this like I have, I hope it helps.

I used tubemate to get my music from YouTube and then used an MP3 Video Converter to convert it into an audio file. And I store all my music in playlists. So I want sort of a playlist cover rather than an album cover. Can someone help?
