Changing Default Dialer on S7 Edge

I'm using 'Black Edition' as my theme on S7Edge. Here's my dialer:

Guys,

I installed version 2.05 of the Google dialer and it works on my s7 edge! It's the version before Google pulled it for non-Nexus devices. And I am not rooted.

Crazy, with Google contacts, messenger, calendar and now dialer, seems like I'm using a Nexus!

Here's the build version. You can download it from apkmirror.

I believe subsequent updates to the Google dialer locked it back up again for none Nexus devices.
You'll have to stick to that version for now and don't update.

I cant seem to change the default phone app. I've gone to Applications/Default applications and changed Calling App to two different dialers (True Phone and True Dialer) but the default phone app still comes up when receiving calls and using widgets.

Anyone figured this out yet?

Thanks!

Go into settings default application manager find your phone dialer and clear defaults. To be safe you can clear defaults on anything associated with calling. I cleared out contacts as well not sure if that's what did it for me. Hope that helps
