changing ringtone in cyanogenmod 9

Hey all- I hate that I'm asking this dumb question, but I have an alpha release of CM9 (I say that b/c it may be relevant) and for the life of me I can't set my custom ringtone. i go to settings --> sound --> and I see the ringtone in the list of ringtones to select from. I select it and everything seems good. Except the next time I receive a call it's the same one that was just there.

any help would be appreciated.
