im not sure how to do this, i would think you would need Root first.

As far as I know, and correct me if I'm wrong, rooting is the only way to do this.

That is correct..You can't change any system fonts without rooting. You can however change fonts in many apps and widgets.

If you already have root then the simplest way imo, is to use an app like Root Explorer.

You can place the fonts on a folder on your sdcard and then copy and paste them into the system/fonts directory on your phone. Just don't forget to make a backup of the original fonts and rename the new ones to DroidSans and DroidSansBold.

You need something like root explorer that allows you to access read/write permission

I use root explorer, love it

dont forget to hit the button at the top , should say mounted as R/O click the button next to it to turn into R/W
