Charge time

I have a separate external battery charger and dock from Samsung for this phone. Both charge my battery from flat to 97% in about 3 hours. The external charger comes with a battery, which I have 2 batteries for my NS4G. The charger and dock cost $49 each.

I have a similar question: when I'm plugged into my car charger while running Navigation, my phone still discharges. My EVO was able to charge quickly enough to keep up with Navigation. Anyone else having this issue, or any advice?

I usually charge my phone when it is turn on, however, if you turn it off to charge it will charge must faster. At least on mine it does, it is a notable time difference. I have never actually timed it though.
