I'm curious how well the X is as a gps unit in a car? Display ok, or easily washed out in sun? Battery charge times, can the Moto X hold a charge with a cig/USB adapter... My 2.0 amp unit can't with a s4 (neither can the supplied AC adapter (my car has a 110v outlet).

Thinking of switching from the s4 for above reasons and for a slightly smaller body.

I drove from Cape Cod to south of Boston with Scout on and charging it. I used my VW MDI port to charge the phone. i cannot remember if it charged our used some battery, but if it discharge some it was a very small about. Drive time was 75 minutes.

The phone screen for was visible in the car. It's in direct sunlight out side that is an issue.

I just drove 45 minutes. Using Google navigation while charging, I went from 99% to 98% with the screen on and Bluetooth.

Old Verizon micro usb car charger (no idea when/where/why i got it/have it, had iphone for last 3 years)

I don't remember if Moto X lost or kept the charge, but I definitely didn't worry about recharging that day.
The screen brightness was set at 40% give or take and i had no issue viewing it in the position allowed by my car dash.
The AC was keeping Moto X frosty cool, don't know how it will play out in winter month, i can just close that vent i guess.

UPDATE: I can confirm the old micro usb verizon charger had no problem charging Moto X. Entered the car with 70% GPS/BT on. Google Nav all the way on 40min drive to NJ. Out of the car with fully charged to 100% Moto X at destination.
