Charger problem

So I was randomly charging my phone when it said that the adapter isn't compatible with my phone. Which is really weird because I'm using the one that came with my HTC One. Is there any reasoning for this?

maybe bad charger try another one or turn your phone off

Could have been some type of power surge from the source where you had it plugged in at? Does this happen often, or just that once? As the other guy said, perhaps the charger has become defective, and needs to be replaced.
