So my GNex seems to have a mind of its own. I'll plug it in with the same charger, and about 40-50% of the time, it won't charge. I have to soft reset the phone. It doesn't matter if it's my car charger or my home AC charger. Both chargers are plugged in tightly. I am rooted running Bugless Beast 4.1.1.

Has this issue happened to anyone else? If so, how did you fix it?

Try a different cable. the USBs tend to get loose over time and not make as good of a connection. I have several cables (cheap) that are that way. Position them just so, and they work, move them and they don't. We have one Verizon car charger that is that way. I think the cable was pulled from the phone at an angle, and slightly bent it.

I don't think so, because it charges my wife's Bionic 100% of the time. So I think the charger is ok. Very odd. I hope it's not my phone.

This has happened to me. I'm running bug less too but its also happened on stock unrooted. Both times a reset has fixed the problem

Thanks for the tip. I'll give that a try and see if that fixes the issue.

Then try the reset suggested, and, if still no joy, try another cable. If the cable has been pulled out too many times the wrong way, or fallen on the floor too many times (like my wife's phone) then the phone might be the problem. Her phone has issues with *some* cables.

Been happening to me recently as well and I've used my mom's charger. It charges half of the time.. but only when it's off. Some days I'll wake up and it will be fully charged and other days it will be at 10%. I am going to do a factory reset tonight.

This happened to me for the first time the other day. Plugging the phone in yielded no result. A quick reset and all was well.

it's the cable.
I have two GNex's in my house and a thunderbolt. All have had this problem.
A new cable fixes the problem every time

i have a very thing TPU case on my G-Nex. but the microUSB hole cut-out on the case is relatively small. this prevents the stock Samsung charger from fully engaging and locking-in on the port which results in sometime not charging unless i really make sure it's connected.

if i use my OEM Sprint Charges with the smaller tip - it locks in fine.

the Samsung Charger has a thick end that can sometimes prevent full engagement with the port if you have a case installed.

Hole on my wife's Tbolt case is the same...or was. An Exacto enlarged the hole to fit. Just shave carefully and small bits.

Mine is very finicky as well. It works with some cables and not with others and the cables that don't work with it work perfectly fine with others. I even have one cable that shows that it is charging but won't actually charge the phone. It's very frustrating...

Happens to me randomly. Also running Bugless Beast. Started after I unlocked, rooted, and flashed about two weeks ago (first timer). Otherwise, I really like the Jelly Bean rom.

"not charging" battery status

I recently bought a universal battery charger on Amazon.
Amazon.com: PowerGen Multi-Purpose Universal Rapid Battery Charger for Use with Motorola Atrix 4G / Droid X / Droid 2, 3 / Triumph , HTC Sensation 4G XE XL / Thunderbolt / Inspire 4G / EVO 4G / EVO 3D, Samsung Galaxy Nexus, Galaxy S2, S / Epic 4G: Ce
It works great for the regular and extended battery.

Since, in addition to the wall socket prongs, the charger comes with a 1 Amp 12V plug and USB cable for car charging, I tried charging my Nexus with it. It starts out with Battery Status "Charging (AC)" , but after a few minutes, changes to "Not Charging." I've never seen this before. The strange thing is that the stock battery indicator shows the lightning bolt (charging) and Circle Battery Indicator is glowing yellow (charging), however the battery is really Discharging.

I tried different, proven, USB cables, but no difference.

Anyone have a clue?

had this happen too. The car charging thing frustrates the hell outta me. I finally called VZW yesterday and they called Samsung. Samsung told them it's because I don't have the "official" Samsung charger. I don't think it will make a difference and neither does VZW. VZW did however post for the "official" Samsung charger so we'll see on Thursday if it works...

My Gnex has started doing the same thing ever since I unlocked, rooted, and flashed a JB rom. It's really frustrating. I have a spare battery and charger and I have just been charging the battery in the spare charger and then putting the charged battery into my phone. My phone will not charge at all while it is on. I have 4 different chargers and none of them work. After reading up on this issue in the Google forums it seems that it may be a kernel issue (i.e. if the kernel supports rapid charging it could mess things up). Depending on what kernel you're using it may be causing issues. I'm going to try flashing a new kernel for my JB rom and see if that fixes it.
