Verizon is having to send me a replacement Rezound because my charger won't stay connected to my phone. Saturday night it was on the charger 8 hours and never got fully charged because it kept disconnecting . Stock charger and battery. Anybody else have any trouble with the charging port on the Rezound?

Mine charges better with a micro USB cable. With the stock cable it has to placed in a particular way to work. If it loses the right tension, it stops charging.

I can't stand the stock cable. My daughter about destroyed her Rezounds charging port with that cable. I have her using a standard cable now and works much better for her. We have a couple of Rezounds in the family and we don't use the stock cable with any of them. Mainly just to prevent further damage to the charging ports.

I don't know how common it is. I had it and I think I can say I saw it a few other times... I go back and forth between stock cable and a normal cable. I chalked it up to me messing it up by trying to put the normal cable in the wrong way too many times.

I noticed a regular usb cable seems to hold better than the stock cable.

I'd highly recommend using an external battery charger (with an extra battery) instead of the phone itself. That way you always have a fully charged spare battery on hand and it's a lot less wear and tear on the phone itself. The constant plugging in and removing a cable can really wear on the USB port to the point it doesn't make a good connection anymore or it just stops working all together. There is also heat build up and wear on the internally circuitry of the phone when charging, especially if the phone is used at the same time. Over time these things take a toll on the phone.

I've been using a Seidio Multi-Function Battery Charger for over a year with great success.

This one should also work with the Rezound as it shares a common battery config with the Thunderbolt:

My granddaughter or wife destroyed my charging port after one to many attempts to plug the HTC charger in upside down. Replacement is on the way. It turns out that I'll be getting a Razr as they are out of Rezounds. Works ok for me since my wifes replacment Rezound (white screen of death} arrived today. She can have the Razr and I'll keep the Rezound as apart from the charging port I never had a problem. She hates the Rezound and jumped at the chance to try a new phone.

I figured I would be given a Razr too but I guess on Monday when I called they had some Rezounds in stock.

I had this problem and got a refurb. Haven't had a recurrence as yet! I'm not sure that it's common, but maybe just possible on any smart phone; I had a refurb DInc2 that had a charge port go bad, too.

O:-)I purchased a rezound for my son last christmas after doing an abundance of research on its capabilities. it was his first actual smart phone but he had had several nice not so smart phones complete with touch screens beforehand so i was confident in his ability to care for this phone being 15 at the time. I fell immediately in love with this phone and soon after ordered my own first smartphone, the htc rezound as well. Both phones within a couple of months of eachother did the powercycling thing and had to be hard reset. a pain in the *** but understandable to me with this technology. Next issue was that damn charging port, my sons phone did the not charging thing, and shortly after i noticed mine was loosening up as well. i did somewhat of an inspection on them and found that the ports were literally coming lose inside and if the prongs were pushed in too far which i believe could happen with normal use, they stopped connecting and therefore stopped charging. i contacted verizon and asked the tech people if this was a common problem and of course theyd never heard of this particular problem before to which i responded, thats funny because i have two of them which i bought from separate sources and both of them are having the same problem, long pause... having had the phone for over a year no manufacturer warranty and they then wanted to charge me a couple hundred to replace it on that insurance of theirs. i did happen to be able to reinforce the problem area on my phone as it had just started to show signs of breakdown. I do quite a bit of research and found that i could purchase this phone for that amount and thought that was a raunchy thing for verizon to do so i cancelled the insurance and purchased a leading samsung for the same price and purchased full coverage insurance through ebay which will cover the phone even if my son throws the damn thing in the toilet !!! at 100% coverage. I have not purchased a phone from verizon since the initial free phones, and i will never again purchase their insurance, when i can do so much better elsewhere!!! I absolutely love my htc, despite the couple of issues, im amazed at its capabilitlies and am amazed by the lack of knowledge that some have regarding its capabilities and features, my son included :( I also think that instead of people blaming htc for certain issues that just maybe its the company that distributes it that is to blame for the difficulty on understanding these issues and also for not addressing recurring or obvious issues such as the charging port. i think they just may be too afraid it might cost them a buck to recall it and replace the port, or even request that htc does it. Im surely not giving up on my HTC's and am eagerly watching the newest to see which i want to get my paws on :)
thank you to everyone for making this such a pleasant, friendly, open and informative forum !!! Youre all great !!! Im learning lots !!! O:-)

Recently, my charging port took a crap. Ive been able to use a different charger though. If the port went bad, but then I dropped my phone, cracking the screen and a part of the LCD, will Verizon still send a replacement due to the port messing up (I have insurance and that is a manufacturers defect)? Or, will they see the phone and think I sent it back because I didnt want a cracked screen and end up making me pay for the phone?

Cracked screen is pretty much an automatic deny replacement and charge you no matter what else is wrong with the phone, and there isn't really any way out of it no matter how right or logical your argument is... Although if you have the insurance you can still file a claim and pay the $100 to get a refurb.
