I have an SM-T 820, the manual gives no instructions on where to place the S pen to charge it. The pen sticks magnetically to all the rear corners of the Tab but it is not charging. Should the pen point in a specific direction. I see that pens on the S6, S7 and s8 all have to point in different directions.

Welcome to Android Central! The S Pen for the Tab S3 is not battery-powered: https://r1.community.samsung.com/t5/tablets/s-pen-not-working-on-tablet-s3/td-p/3531703#:~:text=The Tab S3 did not feature battery-powered,have any other S-Pen (including from Note

Is it not working correctly? Are you certain this is the correct S Pen for that device?
Hi, thank you for your reply. Tapping app icons does nothing. Dragging or tapping on the home page does not lauch the air command menu. In brief I get no reaction from the tablet at all, not even if i press the button on the S pen. I lost the original original pen and bought what i believe to be a new genuine replacement on Amazon. It had the correct logos and looked identical to the origin pen and did initially work perfectly. I have been in Hospital for 9 months and the S pen lost its charge. I am trying to recharge it. I have read that the magnets in some tablet cases like mine can interfere with the magnetic flux from the screen that charges the S pen. So i have removed the case and now wonder where is the best placeto rest the S pen for charging.

Best wishes Martin

Hi Martin. I'm sorry for your situation.

I have a Tab s3 with the original spen. I think the model number to be:
EJ-PT820 /EJ-PT820BBEGUJ

My original Spen has no battery. The only thing that seems to stick to the tablet is the metal clasp with the Samsung logo. It attaches poorly just above the USB charging port. Since the original Spen is not battery dependent, I don't see any reason why Samsung would include a wireless charging feature in this tablet.

Battery or no battery, it seems like you should be able to still tap the screen to access air commands. Did you check your Spen settings to verify that Air View, Direct Pen Input, Pointer, Shortcuts, Floating Icon where all still toggled on? Sometimes, in my case, settings just 'magically' change.

(Just as a test, I placed my Tab s6 & Tab s8 Spens on the tablet back near the USB port & their batteries did not charge.)
