Haven't been very active on AC the past few days. Finally got a laptop up and running for daily computer use so I've been catching up on work. Finished all that so I get to relax, sort through AC, and help Play Music All Access get to know me a little better.

My overtime is over, I have a full belly, I'm in my happy place.

My question of the night is I want to learn how to root devices. I have never attempted this before and know very little how to do it, but want to learn. I'm thinking about buying a cheap android tablet to learn how to. I found an 8inch tablet running jellybean for $100. What would you all recommend I do to learn and start. I want to really understand what im doing before I try this on my One.

Find an 8gb nexus 7 for around the same price on craigslist or swappa.That is where i did start(okay with a 16gb n7) and where i would start

Are you just trying to set up so you can run custom ROM's or trying to do some other tweaking? The most effective way for rooting and bootloader unlocking, in my opinion, is to do some research on the how-to on the specific device, because the procedure can vary pretty heavily between different brands and different devices. YouTube can be a great resource, as well as XDA, RootzWiki and sometimes, depending on the device, you can get some great luck here.
