On Lollipop, the status bar and notification shade shows the avatar of the Google account you're currently signed into. That's David's G+ avatar. Should be the same on your Nexus 9

Strange. I have a G+ avatar, but it just shows a blue circle on my N7. Do I need to reboot? Not sure. Sometimes it wouldn't show for me, and it would randomly pop up after a few days. Only works on stock Android, so I can't check now that I have a Note 4
