[Chatter] "Where everybody knows your name ..."

Dag, yo. If I was closer to downstate IL I'd be out there giving you a hand for sure. I don't think I'll be out that way anytime soon though. :(

Re: [Chatter] "Where everybody knows your name ..."

My main viewing area is about 8 feet from my 55 incher. I'd like to be closer, but room setup makes that impossible. The TV is also mounted a bit too high for my liking, but I can't very well mount it in the fireplace either. I wish TV placement was a more prominent factor in room design.

Lol, you could always mount it in the fireplace and put video of a fire on it when you want to pretend. Agreed though, TVs above fireplace are a bit too high. My 50 inch plasma is really a second monitor though, so, I don't have the type of problems you have, lol.

Big day tomorrow. Exceptionally nervous.

Good luck DM!! You got nothing to worry about, and, you know that. As soon as you get there and get settled in, you'll be fine.

Trust me the 36 inch HD LCD is about done... Looking forward to my next purchase in the 50+ inch range, thinking LED ?

Definitely at least 60. When I got my 50 inch I thought it would be big enough, but, now I wish I had gotten 60 - 65. Next TV will be for sure.

Can't say if you should go LED or Plasma. I love my Plasma, but, I have heard good things about LED.

Also, plasma >>> LED

Well, I assume LED is at least a decent bit better than a standard LCD. And, while Plasma is definitely better than LCD, I would think I'd have to compare modern plasmas to mine (about four years old) and then modern plasmas to LED before I could make that call. Either way, I'm sure either are great at this point.

didn't think it would die on me almost instantly.

Lemon Law?

Not going to selectively quote cause I'm too lazy.

His car was used, so lemon law unfortunately doesn't apply.

And plasma still owns when it comes to picture quality (and typically picture quality at a given cost as long as you're looking 46"+). Unbiased reviewers typically put plasma at the top. Most LED sets are typically better than ccfl backlit models, but that might be due to the higher price of LED sets so manufacturers can afford to put a better panel in there.

If it's not abundantly clear, I'm a huge TV snob lol

Lemon Law?

I think that law applies to used cars, actually. However, I didn't buy the car. It was from a good friend, "take it now, give me what you can whenever." I sold the Box to get it registered and insured.

I'm not a big fan of plasma but I have been checking out the LED's. My Sharp 36" HD LCD has been very good to me. The kids growing up have put their share
of war marks on the screen over the last few years. No bad pixels or anything but the screen surface has some nice scratches in it that are driving me nuts when I'm playing Gears of War 3.

When I play gears I play to win and get all wound up in it and my display is important to me ;)

Generally correct, although if your friend was a merchant (doubtful) you may be protected under the UCC. Just sayin'.

Lols. I have my 50 inch on my computer desk. Sitting in my office chair with my feet up on my desk, and, they just about touch my TV. I'd guess I'm about three feet away from it playing Skyrim. I wanna feel like I'm in the game, lol.

ULTIMATE GAMING EXPERIENCE! You gotta get surround sound and a 12" subwoofer. You gotta feel it and hear it

Actually the lemon laws do apply to new cars as well but it is quite involved
Step1: Discuss the problem with the owner or General Manager of the Dealership
Step:2 If your dealership is unable toresolve the problem contact the Manufactory Group(GM,Chrysler,Ford) LLC Customer Center be prepared to provide the following info
Your name
VIN
The name of selling dealership
the current mileage
date of purchase
nature of problem
mileage at first service visit for this problem
how many times the vehicle has been serviced for this problem
Once you have done this a representative(chrysler, ford,gm)LLC(Limited Liability Company)will review your situation. If its something the company LLC can help you with they will provide your dealership with all the info and assistance necessary to resolve the problem. If they cant help you then the LLC will acknowledge your contact and explain it's position.
All states have lemon laws allowing you to get a replacement vechicle or a refund its just a pita to go though to prove your case as shown from the steps above
