Perhaps life is the ultimate parasite. it's amazing where life is found even here..on earth. I have a hard time believing that something that spreads so easily,could be contained to a single planet.Water being carried by asteroids and comets have been thought to be a kind of life factory.playing host to microscopic life and then smashing into planets and spreading life.

Agreed.I am willing to bet microscopic life exists in this very solar system.Besides earth of course(Titan or Europa most likely,to name two.However,there are others.)

Perhaps we are an evolving consciousness of unknown or alien origin, and live among countless evolving consciousnesses like AI and other animals, and some of which we are unaware because they exist in places or dimensions our still evolving mind cannot comprehend yet. I'm in the middle of writing my final paper for scifi film class..."Intertextual themes on what it means to be human as presented in the Ridley Scott films Alien, Blade Runner and Prometheus".

that I like a lot.if we are going to throw out thoughts like that. I have one that used to trouble me( when I was nine or ten) but now that I live a less worried existence brings me occasional entertainment. you could snap out of this reality and into another to find you have been in a coma for years..you're entire life faded from you in the blink of an eye.or perhaps you have snapped into a coma from your "real" life. which one would it be..this would be a difficult decision..so take that FWIW.

I hadn't seen the film until just recently(around a year ago)..a great movie. Oh BTW that conversation gets a lot more interesting if you are saying to someone else they could be in a coma because then your existence depends on their delusion..

Perhaps we are living in a simulation because in another reality lifespans are infinite and you got bored.so you decide to throw yourself into a 80 year long (or so) simulation..just for the record I really,really like where this is headed.
