Going to Best Buy tomorrow... Hoping I can buy a rMBP. If it was only up to me, I'd definitely get an 8GB of RAM/256GB SSD model. Unfortunately my parents are tech illiterate and think I'm paying extra money just because, so I can't buy whatever I want. Even though I have more than enough (I'm paying for it myself). 😟

Congrats! (When you get it)

For me personally, after discussing with my dad a lot I'll be getting the 500GB/8GB RAM model 13".

My dad was also not haply seeing the price tag of it but he says he trusts that I known what I'm getting and its true, I've basically been waiting through the storage on my MBP as of late (till it died)

R.I.P MBP, you served me well for 3-4 but due to an unfortunate drop you HDD just couldn't recover then you started having RAM issues again due to the drop:( it wouldn't be worth trying to revive you but you shall live on in my heart!

Yeah, even if I don't get it I'd get a MBA. It's not bad (better than Windows ultra books IMO), but the rMBP is just better 😅
Either way, I'd be happy. Congrats to you as well. You're only getting an i5 right?

Yeah i5 ,i7 would just be too expensive and I'm not gonna take advantage of my parents.

No idea. But I think its 2-3 years additional warrant it for any sort of damage. I think its worth it but I won't be getting it.

Hmm. I don't think I'd drop it or anything, and while it would be nice to have peace of mind I'd rather not buy it.

Might be easier to convince my parents this way...I spent $990 on the Windows laptop and was going to pay $200 for insurance, which adds up to more than the $1,180 I'd pay for the base rMBP after taxes.

I don't see why!
If you are paying for it, get the one you want!
Simple as that!

You really need to seat with your parents and have a talk.
Let them know how much better the one you want is.

Of course, I still believe any Apple product is over priced.

But when you are paying for your stuff, you need to make sure you get what you want.
