[Chatter] "Where everybody knows your name ..."

Okay....so I'm having bad luck with with my HTC phones...

As I mentioned before, my HTC M8 croaked. Now the screen on my old HTC M7, bowed, and is trying to pop off. The phone is still working, but now I have tapped the sides of the phone with tape.

Now I'm starting to seriously question the quality of HTC devices.

My friend from work, as I mentioned, has recommended to me that that I get a Nexus 6.

So, here's what I am considering....

Purchase the Nexus 6 on the Sprint Easy Pay program, (if it gets repaired by HTC) keep the repaired HTC M8 as my backup phone, and get rid of the HTC M7.

The other option would be to simply keep using my HTC M7 until my HTC M8 comes back from the repair shop, and the simply switch back to my HTC M8.

So my questions for discussion are this...

What do you all think about the Nexus 6?

Do you you all think that the Nexus 6 is a good upgrade or replacement for the HTC M8?

Do you you all think that I should go ahead and make the jump to the Nexus 6, or stand pat with the HTC M8?

Let me know your thoughts.

Have you tried the Nexus 6? For me, it is huge compared to the HTC M8. It's not the screen itself that's huge, but it's really bulky, due to the thick body design. It probably wouldn't be bad if you don't mind the bulk.

I gave the N6 and IMO you get used to the size quick. I don't really get into Samsung devices, so for me the N6 is one of the best options out there. The only other thought would be to consider the G4 if you're into that one.

Actually I have played around with the Nexus 6. I tried one at a Sprint Store, while I was getting my old HTC M7 reactivated. My friend at work also let me play with his.

I actually liked the size of the phone. I love the BIG screen, and the stereo speakers seem to sound just as good as the ones on the M8.

As for bulk, personally, I did not think that the Nexus 6 was really much more bulky than the HTC M8 that I already have.

I didn't like the Nexus 6, the LG G3 I liked, so I'm guessing the G4 would be even better than the G3.

Anyway, for a person that never used a Samsung phone before the GS4, I really like the Samsung phones.

But my priorities are probably different than yours, so, go into the store and use the latest phones and than decide.

Bummer about your phones, that's a drag. If I didn't love my Note devices so much, I would use the Nexus 6 no doubt. I want one too but can't give up my Note 4! But I hate not having a Nexus device. I used the Galaxy Nexus on VZW (which of course is how I ended up finding this thread) and had a Nexus 7 for a couple years and loved both of them. The LG G4 looks really nice too though, but I've never used their devices. Not a fan of HTC myself, but that's neither here nor there.

I'm curious about the G4 too. Hopefully it'll be released soon. I know it's already available overseas.

I've never used a mainstream Samsung device as anything but play. I had the gnex, but that's obviously a nexus. I've had HTC, a very old LG, get, nexus 6 and both get moto x. Soon will have an Asus too. And got a g for my kids since they finally broke the gnex. I probably won't ever buy a TouchWiz device that has physical buttons, but I may give LG another shot. It's been about 4 years.

Thanks,

Personally, I don't think that I would ever buy a Samsung phone. The biggest reason is that I absolutely cannot stand Touchwiz. Also, I'm not really that fond of the style of Samsung phones.

I also have the N6 ,it doesn't take to long to get use to the size. I had mine since April 25 .Having said that I have had HTC and Samsung phones too.The last HTC was the original incredible .The last Samsung was the S3.I really didn't have an issue with either but did root my Samsung's pretty soon after getting them .I just didn't care for all the gestures on the S3 wanted a cleaner looking phone so ran custom ROM. I had rooted my HTC Incredible too tho just because back then without root it was a pain to take a screenshot without root.I don't think you can go wrong with the N6 tho, size is really the only thing but sounds like you ok with that.I haven't unlocked or rooted my N6 yet but once I get more time will but its not top priority right now . I'm looking at the LG G4 to .

From my N6

I'm seeing rumors that there might be two Nexus phones this year, a big one and a smaller one. If that's true, I'll be happy.

Okay...so I took the plunge, and I ordered the Nexus 6 through the Sprint website.

According to the UPS website, it should arrive on Thursday afternoon.

Of course I show you all the 'Unboxing'.

As for my HTC M8, according to the UPS website, it hasn't reached the HTC repair shop yet. If the M8 does get fixed, I going to have to decide whether to keep it as a backup phone or sell it.

Right now, I'm leaning towards selling the HTC M8, since it is still worth about $150.

So what do you all think I should do with my HTC M8? Keep it, or Sell it?

If you're going to keep the Nexus 6, sell the M8. You won't want to go back to the small phones once you've gone 5.5+ :D

Good luck! I hope you get your Nexus 6 soon and it is trouble free. :)

My suggestion would be to sell your HTC M8 while you are still able to get something for it.
