[Chatter] "Where everybody knows your name ..."

Should I get an iPhone( I still might, I really like the privacy aspect) it won't affect me, because I have a dedicated dac/amp combo , but still I feel like there isn't an excuse
No...there isn't a good excuse for Apple replacing the standard Headphone jack, other than to force users to by the over priced Beats Headphones, so that Apple can make more money.

Also, don't get an iPhone!
While iPhones have great hardware, their iOS is incredibly unsophisticated and horribly locked down.

They are being truly "jack" @$*es about this whole issue. No rotten ifruit for me!

Got the back windshield tinted again free of charge as there was a thin bubble line developing. Nice guy, even though the original work was performed about 4 years ago.

I won't argue that, And I honestly feel they will overstep this time, many of the technologies that they have ditched on other products have had a short life span(say 10 -20 years) and when they cut the tech out, they most probably had projections that showed the standard/tech/format was going away so it was a safer bet, but I don't think the 3.5 adapter is going away anytime soon

I haven't had any security issues with Android, but I stay away from dodgy sites.

I was referring more so to privacy, and encryption strength.
I'm going to give a marshmallow device a try and see how it is, and I truly hope it will be fixed. Another thing that was influencing my decision was just trying something new ya know? I've been using android since '11. It'd be nice to try something else

Same here.

No issues on Android or WP for me. The price to performance ratio of an ifruit is overrated IMO.

I was referring incredibly nerdy permissions level stuff, although from what I have heard ios 9 is a mess as of current, so while an iPhone is a possibility, it will be heavily dependent on what apple has done to fix the issues in ios 9. I honestly feel like this whole release system is horribly misplaced, we need perfection not new features.

Yup. I don't think audiophiles and musicians and music lovers are going to replace all their other equipment and buy brand new fruit stand stuff....its a Trojan horse to somehow move more Beats headphones. Apparently sitting on $200 billion has made them more arrogant.... That they couldn't get the Beats integration to be more meaningful and having to resort to gimmicks like this is a major turn off...

Google has an encrypt device mode on Marshmallow. Try WP, the cost of admission is less than $50 and the Lumia 640 is $ for $ the best phone out there in the sub $100 smartphone category.

Initially that was Android while now it is more mature and with each iteration iOS seems to get more gimmicky.

I will say I LOVE what they are trying to do in standing up for encryption, and certain stances they take on social issues really appeal to me. But at the end of the day will that be enough to get me in the door and buying a chunk of hardware? No, but I can respect that they appear to be, all things consider a somewhat moral company

If he's concerned about privacy, Cortana is just as "chatty" as Google Now and Siri.

They started their encryption stance once they became a huge behemoth. And all their good social issues stuff is under Cook, Jobs was a maverick and a "jack" @$*, hey I just used that term twice today😱

I just hope that google keeps on their current path, improving permissions, patching security flaws as fast as possible, and leaving the ui fairly untouched, because right now marshmallow is beautiful

Edit: hey, look 51k

I'm aware, I was young enough to where most of jobs reign is fuzzy to me. I wasn't actively involved in the tech community then like I am now, so I can't comment on that era of apple...really. but I will agree with you it is under cook that these things have come to be. Let's just hope it stays that way.

I think from KitKat onwards I have really enjoyed Android. The Nexus 5 is still a very relevant device. I think people are beginning to realize that $649+tax is a lot of money for a smartphone and now that contract subsidies have dried up expect things to get very interesting for all smartphone makers including Apple. Cook did say on the investor call that he expects revenues to decline this quarter.
