Hi all,

I am looking for a phone to use for a mobile survey that will rely heavily on photographing administrative records. As such, I'm looking for the cheapest unlocked phone available that meets the following requirements:

1) Camera of 12 MP or higher
2) Strong battery life - up to 8 hours of consistent use, if possible
3) 16 GB storage, or ability to upgrade storage

I don't care about any of the other features.

I am hoping to find something that meets these features for less than $300, new and unlocked. Any advice? All suggestions are welcome. Thank you!

Think your about a year ahead of the design for the price. Not going to see anything under $300 with a 12 MP shooter till next year.

Megapixels doesn't translate to quality. Some phones with 8MP take better pics than 13MP.

This is very true and I would say the $300 will effect quality more since you would be better off with an actual camera for that price.

Why do you require such high MP when phones like the Galaxy S3 and Htc One X+ have great 8MP Cameras?

If you MUST have 12MP and above then look for the Sony Xperia TX, it has a decent 13MP Camera:

I'm looking for high MP because we'll be taking pictures of large administrative records, and we'll need to zoom in to see small handwriting in good detail. The 8 MP camera on my Google Nexus 4 wasn't quite good enough. If there are other specs that are a better proxy for this, please let me know - I don't know much about camera quality. Thanks for the suggestions so far.

Check out the Blu Life phones, View, One and Pure will match your criteria. Don't know how good the actual camera are.
