I'm a 2 year Iphone 3gs user and made the plunge today to the Inspire (picked it up free on upgrade at Best buy). I had a quick question which I couldn't find on searching the forum. When I check for update under settings, it checks for at least 10-15 minutes and usually never seems to find anything. In fact I've never even received a no updates available message. Is this normal?

There is no current update that is available. Its the carrier who is pushing the update little by little to the users. Sometimes, you just have to be patient and keep on checking. If anything, I think XDA might have the update to download and install manually.

Many threads already made on this, so please search them out.

I picked my Inspire a couple of weeks ago and had to wait until I got to a wifi network to get the update that enabled the HSPA+ (enhanced backhaul whatever it is) speeds. I also used the "HTC Wi-Fi software update" option to get it instead of the "check for updates" option.

I hope this helps. :)

That does help. Thanks. I was confused about the two different update options and what the generic "Check for update" did since it would go on for 30 minutes and never return a result. This morning however it seems to work ok and now tells me I have no available updates. Thanks for the help.
