Is there a way to check your signal strength? Since I got to my office this morning I've fluctuating between zero and one bar. With my old Moment I would consistently get two bars. Aside from updating your PRL, which I did this morning, is there any other way to increase signal strength?

there are a lot of programs out there to check but one i particularly use is Elixir.

It is free on the market and also offers a the widget along with it, Gives u battery, cpu ram, internal & external ram wi-fi signal strength, sync, display strength&resolution, camera &camcorder res. Haven't used it extensively but i do have the widget on my home screen, oh and it has a 4G toggle

that isnt really a fiar or scientific comparison.
The only real way to test RF results is to get 2 identical devices. Your compairing 2 completely different devices from 2 different manufacturers.

Heck, even an EVO 4G and EVO 3G will have some different RF values. They are different hardware designs and differnt sets of modem software.

If other people have low sprint signal in the building in general then the device is fine.
If people have full signal and you have low signal then there is an issue.

My reception on the 3D is much worse than my OG EVO. Anybody else having issues? I'm wondering if I should swap it out for another one.

That is to improve speeds on the data side. It shouldnt have anything to do with signal strength or quality.

Also comparing the EVO 4G to 3D for signal strenght is not the same. As i mentioned before there are differences in manufacturing, antenna placement and other things that make a comparison not so accurate.
There are always small amounts of signal interpertation differences in all devices. Especially between manufacturers.
Low signal is just what it is low signal. If your 4G gave you 1 bar and your 3D gives you no bars, but you still have signal, then that might not mean anything.
If one devices gives full signal and the other has 1 bar then yeah something is wrong.
At my desk in my office my 4G gave me 1 bar, my EPIC gave me 2--3 bars, and my 3D gives me 0-1 bar. The fact i still ahve signal is good enough for me. If i had no service then i would complain.

To gar a fair and acurate comparison at least have identical devices. Find someone else with a 3D and set them side by side for comparison.

I get what what you are saying but I think my device might be defective. I always got 2 bars at my house on the OG EVO and with the 3D I am always either roaming or have zreo bars. Also missing calls and getting random voicemails hours after they were left.

To me that does sound like a bad device. I you had several bars, or at least service in one locatoin and now its roaming or your getting VM delayed like that i would take it back.
