I am currently using the iphone 4 and have an upgrade date at the end of October. I went to look at the 5 and see what the android phones looked like. I was not impressed by the 5 but BOY was I impressed by the Galaxy III!!!! It is everything I need. I will be heading in that direction real soon. My question is where is a good place to by accessories? I don't see an accessory thread here. I asked the lady there about batteries and she said they didn't sell them. Man that phone was sweet!!!

Android Central store my friend ;)

Other than that usually I head over to Amazon.

Glad that you like the GS3. I love this phone, its pretty awesome. I played with an iPhone 5 and I wasn't impressed and I had a 4 and 4S. Its nothing special compared to what the Android competition is offering. Believe me when I say this, once you use an Android phone you won't want to go anywhere else :).

What they said. I was blown away too. As for accessories, I recommend ordering these if you think you might need the extra juice (although I am usually at 60% still at the end of the day):
Amazon.com: Anker? 2 x 2200mAh Li-ion Batteries for Galaxy SIII GT-I9300, T-mobile Samsung Galaxy S3 Samsung T999, AT&T Samsung Galaxy S3 Samsung I747, Verizon Samsung Galaxy S3 Samsung I535, U.S. Cellular Samsung Galaxy S3 R530,Sprint Samsung Galaxy

For cases check here for some good info:
http://forums.androidcentral.com/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-accessories/

Lots of people like the otterbox defender case. I personally am very happy with this:
Amazon.com: Shell Holster Combo Case for Samsung Galaxy S3 with Kick-stand (At&t, Verizon, T-mobile, Us Cellular & Sprint): Cell Phones & Accessories
and this:
Amazon.com: Samsung EFC-1G6FBEGSTA Galaxy S III Flip Cover - 1 Pack - Carrying Case - Retail Packaging - Black/Pebble Blue: Cell Phones & Accessories

If you decide on the flip cover I saw a number of reviews that claim they received one that wasn't samsung branded.

Welcome to Android! The Galaxy S3 is an amazing phone - you won't regret it, and you'll be happy with it for a long time :) In terms of accessories, Amazon is a great place to start, or you can browse the store right here on Android Central :)

Again, welcome to Android.

I just got my S3 last night. Upgraded from a Thunderbolt. Overall I really love the feel, look and operation of the phone. Was a little disappointed after my first day with the battery. Hoping it gets a little better.

First day battery blues! We tend to use the crap out of our new toy for the first week or so. Battery life suffers because of all the playing around. It does get better!!! I am averaging about 15 - 16 hours per day with moderate use and usually put it back on the charger with about 30% left.

My wife and I are both coming over from Apple 4S's. We absolutely love the S3! Both of us are very pleased with the battery life. I is certainly better that the 4S. We ordered cases and screen protectors from Android Central and were thrilled with the speed and quality of delivery! Besides I hink it important to support Android Central.

yeah, we'll see. I didnt use it all that much, was at work and in class most of the day/evening. That big drop towards the end was when I was in class in a really weak signal zone. That sucked the life out of it pretty quickly.

Weak signals will suck your battery dry, there's really no way around that. If you're in class and not using your phone (after all, you're paying attention, right? O:-) ), you can turn it on airplane mode to save yourself the battery drain.

Yep, put it in airplane mode because that cell standby is your phone looking for a signal...which you obviously don't have in your classroom. On the bright side, my GNex would die after about 2hrs if my Cell Standby was at 20%

Blows my mind how people complain about only getting 14 to 16 hr battery life out of the GS3. That to me is excellent battery life for light to moderate use. Name a phone that does that besides the Razr Maxx on Verizon.

My Thunderbolt, when exclusively using 4G, would average about 10%/hour battery loss. Easy math...10 hours per charge. Granted, on wifi that figure would be about double, and most of the time I would be mixed between the two, so I'd usually get about, oh...14 to 16 hours per charge. I find that my S3 does get slightly better than that, but it's also hard to tell because I use it so much more!

Either way, I agree, if I can go at least 12 hours without a charger, I'm happy. I keep chargers at work and at home, and have a portable charger I can use if I know I'm gonna be out for an extended period of time.

Try downloading "Juice Defender" it is a free app. I have it downloaded on my SG3 and it seems to be working great! I can't really give you any stats, but my phone usually gets charged in the evening while watching TV (between 9pm & 11pm) so it is at 100% when I retire for the evening. As this is my only phone I leave it on 24/7 except when on charge. Battery was charged Wed. evening and as of 11:30am Thurs. battery has been on 12h 19m with 92% discharge. Personally I think this is awesome!

I went from the iPhone 4 to the s3. One of the biggest issues I had was with the battery life. I bought juice defender from the play store and that increased my battery by 200%. I also swapped out the keyboard for the Swiftkey 3 which helped with my typing. I found the Samsung stock keyboard to be annoying.

I have had my s3 for about a month and love the device over the iPhone. I did buy the Samsung flip cover from Verizon because I thought it looked sharp. I was not a fan of flip cases until I bought that one. Unfortunately Verizon's was the best quality. Amazon has a similar one but the reviews are not good.

Also when you want to convert your music from iTunes to google music it's a snap. Just down the google music player on the computer and it converts it for you and stores it on google's server. Then if you want to download it, it is a snap.

Just wanted to report back that battery life after the first day is WAY better. Looks like the Yahoo mail app was sucking up my battery for some reason, even though I turned sync off on it. Since I removed it, battery life has been great. Granted, the below picture is with very little use but does include almost 3 hours with VERY low signal.

ask and you shall receive.

" Naturally, we'd be telling just half the story if we only talked performance. There's an important question that's left: what kind of battery life can you expect? Power is nothing without longevity and, shockingly, the iPhone 5 copes amazingly well. In a day of heavy usage with LTE, GPS and WiFi all enabled, we managed 14 hours and 18 minutes before the phone succumbed to the elements.

On our standard battery rundown test, in which we loop a video with LTE and WiFi enabled and social accounts pinging at regular intervals, the iPhone 5 managed a hugely impressive 11 hours and 15 minutes. That's just 10 minutes shy of the Motorola Droid RAZR Maxx."
