I'm going to be as thorough as I can so this may get a bit wordy.
My wife uses a rewards program called CheckPoints. When you have enough points, you can redeem them for gift cards. You submit the redemption request, CheckPoints sends you a text message with a link. The link is supposed to open up the CheckPoints App, confirming your redemption request. However, HTC Sense 3.6 does not allow the link to open in anything other than the web browser. The option of what to open the link in does not appear. I have already cleared the defaults. I have done a hold press. Nothing brings up the menu of available apps to open the link in.
On my T-Mobile G2x, stock Android 2.3 asks me what to open the link with. Unfortunately, the redemption process must be completed on the phone that the account resides on. Switching the account to my phone temporarily is not an option for reasons that aren't important to the problem.
I submitted this to CheckPoints technical support. They have proven to be most unhelpful so far. My guess is that everyone running Sense 3.6 will have this issue with CheckPoints and they just don't know what to do about it yet. If I hear anything from them, I'll post it here for others to see. In the mean time, I'm hoping someone here can help.
Thanks.
