Chinese Ebay batteries...Huge thumbs up

I tell you what, charging the original battery thru the wall charger has done WONDERS. For those that may not have noticed this, but when the Evo is plugged in a charger and it gets to 100%, at some point it stops using the charger for power and starts using the battery, even if its still on the charger. It's no supposed to do this. This is why the battery level will go from 100 to 90 or sometimes worse within a few minutes. It's been really annoying to have to do the "bump" charging in order to get more than 6-8 hours. Bump charging I would get over 12 hours of battery. I can definitely see me getting 15+ EASY charging the battery thru the wall charger. Werd..

I've left a battery on for at least several hours after it was fully charged. Once the blue (on mine) LED comes on it seems to charge very slowly, if at all.

I have a Belkin lighter socket USB adapter. It cost about $10 on Amazon and works fine. I have no idea how good or bad a $4 one will be. Does it list the output current (e.g. 500 ma, 1000 ma)?

USB charger output to 5V / 500mA
Input voltage: DC12V-DC16V
Output current: Max. DC5A(except USB)
USB Output Voltage/current: DC5V-Max 5.4V/500mA
Total output Power: 60W(except USB)

I just figured I would give it a shot for the extra sockets. I only have one in my car and between the ipod and phone charger it's a pain to keep swapping them out.

I'll right screw it I'm in. For $10 and a week long camping trip in August it should help.

That's good to hear! Can you report in a few months? I bought a battery from China a few yrs ago and it died within a few months =( My g/f would love for me to have a 2nd batt. and charger, and at that price it can't be beat!

Talk to us in a month. Too good to be true.

PS - Do you have to always charge externally to get the improved battery life?

Well, until HTC spends some money for the better charging device and software - well yes...

just tested mine yesterday. capacity definitely not as high as the oem one. i would guestimate it's 1200 or 1300
WHS. I can get 20hrs on the OEM battery, no more than 11 on these (and this is after a couple of charge cycles).

But for $11, I have an external battery charger and two spare batteries that do at least work. Can't complain.

Interesting. I've never gotten more than 16 on the OEM battery, and gotten as much as 15 on the Chinese ones.

Going for these as well - perfect, considering how much tethering drains the battery.

Now, sorry to sidetrack but for the love of anything I haven't been able to find a car charger that actually works. I tried 2 different ones from eBay and 1 from monoprice and they all stop charging or charge inconsistently. Same for the USB->Home Power adapters - they all do the same thing.

I originally had the charger problems with the Pre and thought it was picky. Well, EVO is just as picky.

Anyone?

Edit: retweeted :) Twitter / Android Police: Found 2x 1500mAh batteries ...

Charger from my old blackberry works great.

I bought the external charger / dual battery set mentioned in the first post...overall I'm quite pleased.

It took only 2 weeks to get here from Hong Kong...I've bought a bunch of stuff from there and believe me 2 weeks is fast!

The batteries look and feel solid, pro-jobbies, not knock-offs or imitations. The whole set looked very professional...too professional for only $10. (lol) Below is the one of the new batteries compared to the original:

The charger has a handy cut-out for your finger at the bottom, making it easy to retrieve charged batteries. And while the battery has 4 contact plates on it, the charger has only 2 charging prongs. Strange, but I suppose they need only the 2. Despite the "Touch Pro2" label, I've had no trouble with the set.

It does come with a USB connector, and while I've tested it only once, it did lock up my phone. If you attempt to charge the battery while it's in the phone the orange charge light will come on, but the phone will become unresponsive.

I'm quite annoyed at the placement of the power outlet prongs, on the back near the top. As you'll see in the next pics, it makes placement of the charger awkward unless you connect it directly to a wall outlet. No brainer for most people, but the prongs on the charger on my daughter's NDS rotate 90 degrees and I guess that's spoiled me. If the prongs on this were rotatable, or if they were on the end, I could set the charger on its back, with battery on top. I just like it better that way for some reason.

I was pleasantly surprised to see the huge power light indicator. It turns blue to indicate power, and magenta to indicate charging. Neat.

I'm also pleased to see the words EVO 4G on the battery label...IMO it's always better to buy things that were intended for your device, not just some universal model of accessory.

For $10 this is a steal.

ordered this two battery/charger item and it got here within 5 days...great job...worth it just for the fact that there is no shipping.....
