Chrome "add to home screen" lost icons

Occasionally in chrome I will add a page link shortcut to my home screen. Example BBQ brisket recipe "add to home screen."
More than half of my collection was lost after last update.
Anyone else notice this? Were you able to find, recover?
The last update really ticked me off. I wasn't the only one.

The last update really ticked me off. I wasn't the only one.

Go to settings: accounts and backup, then backup and restore, then restore data. Most of the sites returned after that, however some that I had previously terminated also reappeared.
I am also having an issue at certain times of the day with my website links being shaded out on my homescreen eliminating the ability to use them. This is very annoying. This happens more often though the first time I pick up my phone in the morning. Has only started at some point after the last 2 updates.
