Question Photos keep coming back

Also, do you have a second (or third) device that could be syncing to say OneDrive and auto downloading pictures and subsequently syncing back ti Photos or Gallery.
I do have a laptop, but I don't know about One Drive. The photos are in the Gallery. I use an Alcatel 1B and I have very limited knowledge about computers.

Sorry if I put my message in the wrong place before. I use an Alcatel 1B and the photos are in the Gallery. I use a laptop occasionally. I don't know about One Drive. I have very limited knowledge about computers. Thanks for your time.

Welcome to Android Central forums. The thing with most gallery apps is that they pull images from everywhere and store nothing, or at least very little. One of the topics that pops up around here somewhat often is, I deleted images from my gallery and it deleted them from my camera folder, this is because the gallery app and other viewers like Google Photos are just viewers or interface tools that allow you to view all of your images in one place. I say all of this to say, try deleting the images from where they live. If the images are from your SMS app, open your file manager, navigate to your messages folder and delete the images from the folder where they are stored. See what the result is with this method.

In the meantime, the Alcatel 1B was released in 2020 so I have to imagine this is not a new device to you, so did this issue start recently? Have you installed any new apps around the time you believe this may have started?

Are you using any saver or anti apps? Memory saver, Data saver, Antivirus, Antimalware?

Is there any pattern to this if you really think about it? Like, it happens when I delete images from these two apps but never when I delete images from this app, or if I delete images this way they never come back but if I do it this way they sometimes or always come back? Anything you can think of.

Are you backing up images with a service like Google Photos, DropBox, or anything like these? Do images that have been backed up come back or is it only images that aren't saved in more than one place?

It may take troubleshooting steps to solve this so you may have to do some testing to see what, and when, it happens. For instance, find an image that you know or suspect has come back, locate the folder it's stored in and delete it again the same way you deleted it before, in your gallery app I assume, then use your file manager app to locate that folder and delete another image from your file manager in that same folder and then try deleting an image directly from the app responsible for these images. Make sue none of these images are backed up, and then try it with images that are backed up, or whichever way aligns with your experience. If unbacked up images are the ones that come back only use unbacked up images. Vise versa if it only happens with backed up images, and of course both if it doesn't appear to matter. It may matter more which app the image is from. In that case only use images from those apps.

Let us know what you find.
