Chrome vs samsung internet

You know I was loving Samsung's Internet app, but it seems every time open it I get this. I may switch back to Chrome just to avoid this spam crap. NO I don't want to rate your app Samsung!

So yeah, just because of this I'm back on Chrome. I don't want my own browser that's supposed to protect me from spam, to spam me.

I've been using the Samsung option for quite a long time now and I've never seen that pop up.

To be honest if I did I'd probably just rate the app which would then most probably stop it from popping up again. ;)

Yeah but I'm a rebel and don't want to rate it lol. I really hate it when any app begs for a play store rating like this.

...or give them one star, and state that its because the app kept begging you to rate it.

Samsung Internet. I never liked Chrome mobile browser as it doesn't seem optimized.

Also Samsung Internet lets you use biometrics to auto fill passwords and make purchases.

If people like Samsung browser, is the beta version of Samsung browser from Galaxy play store even better?

I use Samsung Internet because it allows for biometrics on websites. I imported my Chrome bookmarks with an extension on my desktop Chrome browser so it's really a non-issue for me.

Wow I'm REALLY surprised at the results. I thought Samsung's browser would be laughed at! Not that I think it deserves it in any way especially since I don't use it. That's just the usual response to questions about Samsung apps. ;)

I use Chrome because of the bookmark syncing. Also, I'm one of those weirdos who despises using two apps that do the same thing so I put the Samsung browser in a folder in my app drawer and left it there to rot. But you guys are making me want to try it now.

One thing worries me a little though. The Samsung browser is based on Webkit like Chrome or Safari but Chrome gets more updates. Are we left with security holes and missing features (as is sometimes the case with Samsung apps). I have an S7 so the Samsung apps are already starting to be abandonned for me (like the latest Email version is not compatible with the S7).

Yes but once imported, does it sync them?

This so much. I really love this feature. It's incredibly helpful for logging into forums and other websites you use daily.

I imported my Chrome bookmarks and tried the Samsung browser. I'm back to Chrome because of autocomplete. I like the tight integration with my desktop where Chrome completes the URLs of my frequently visited sites. It doesn't seem that the Samsung browser does that, or did I not figure out how to turn that on?

Based on all the love in this thread, I decided to give Samsung Internet a try, but is there any way to keep that huge navigation bar from popping up at the bottom every time you scroll a page back upwards? That is driving me nuts. Not seeing any settings that would control that.

I am trying it, however my chrome bookmarks have not moved over yet. They are in the Chrome extension and I logged in to my Samsung account. but they don't show up in the browser on my phone.

I just checked and the Samsung browser hasn't been updated in a year and, like Email and Calendar, the latest version is not compatible with my S7. That's the kind of thing that annoys me with Samsung, how quickly they abandon past phones.

I'll be sticking with Chrome for now...

I also like Samsung internet app. Chrome does not play well with one of my webmail providers.. SI is light, fast and plays well with most sites.

Cheers,
BR

Not sure why you say it hasn't been updated in a year. In the Play Store, it says Samsung Internet was updated April 7, 2017

I'm on the S7 so the latest version isn't compatible with my phone (like I said in my post ;) ). The latest version I'm seeing is the one updated in April 2016.

I have the same feeling and sentiment. Based on all of the positive reviews I am also trying the samsung browser out as well. So far so good. Like I said there's no black bar on the bottom for the navigation buttons and it's completely themed out which I love. Webpages are formatted nicely and to read as well. No complaints here so far.
