Clear Notifications won't clear

Hey all,

Samsung S6, stock Verizon running Nougat

If I clear the notifications from the home screen they continue to come back. The only way to clear them completely is to open my Samsung Texting app and mark all as read

Same thing with push notifications, they won't clear

Seems to have started about 3 weeks ago

I have cleared cache, restarted

Thoughts?

Any power-saving modes or apps active? My theory is that if apps are being force-closed out of RAM by some power-saving app, maybe when it restarts, it's pushing the same notification as if it's brand new. Might be completely wrong, but worth checking.

Do you have notifications reminder turned on in Accessibilty settings?

No power saving apps, it's a really stock phone

Notification reminder was off when I checked it

It's not just push but text too

That is the only 2 apps that deliver notification

Did you clear the system cache partition, or only the app caches?

Same results

I had 2 texts showing in my notification window, selected clear notification, received another text and the 2 previous are showing again

Odd. Might be a glitch with the current firmware. You could try reinstalling it using Smart Switch, but I think this will wipe your data from the phone: http://www.sammobile.com/forum/showthread.php?t=29914

Ugh, sorry.:-\ I'm not sure what else to try. Let's see if anyone else encounters this -- if so, it might be an actual bug in your variant's firmware. I'll ask the other Ambassadors if they've seen this.

Well, today I switched from using the Samsung Message app to the Verizon Message+ app and the problem went away. I switched back to the Samsung app and the problem returned. Did this a few times and each time I used the Verizon app, no issue, each time I used the Samsung app, issue

Guess which one i'm using now until this is fixed

Glad you were able to narrow it down to the Samsung Messaging app! I suggest looking in that app's settings menu for a Help & Feedback option, and make sure Samsung is aware of this issue.
