Clear the cache

Neither of those methods are used for the Verizon version, and the article looks like a Frankenstein of several articles thrown together, so I wouldn't trust it in the first place.

For Verizon's version, power off the V20, then turn it on again as normal. When the Verizon welcome animation shows, press and hold down the power+vol down buttons. The LG splash screen will show up again. Just keep holding those until the recovery mode shows up. You do not have to hold them down from the start, but it will work.

I know users with other versions couldn't get this to work on theirs. I'm not sure if anyone else found a true working method for them yet.

On my Tmo V20 I can clear the cache by:

settings>storage>internal storage>cached data

- Wait for calculating to end

- Tap "cached data"

- Tap "OK"

And you are done.

That method clears the app cache. As far as I know, it does not clear the system cache. I periodically smart clean>clear apps cache, then use the power button method to clear system cache. Might be overkill, but I only do it about once/week.

By the way, I'm 63 years old, so clearing my phone's cache is about all the excitement I can handle, anyway. 😆😄

I tried this and my Verizon comes up with a screen that shows IMEI and S/N. Then states to hit power button so phone restarts.
