Clearing cache, whole device or apps?

When I get a message from Samsung to clean my cache are they asked me to clean the system cache or all the caches in individual apps?

Is this a notification in the status bar? Can you tell which app is suggesting it?

My guess is that it's encouraging you to clear all app caches, not the system cache partition.

one thing I learned about clearing app caches is NOT to clear the Pandora cache, because I lost all my online station songs.

That's odd -- I would've thought Pandora would save that information in your Pandora cloud account, and when you signed back in, you'd see it again.

With the Pandora Plus(?) account it collects music that you've liked and will play back 4 stations offline - they're saved to your phone. Pandora saves your stations, but when you clear the cache apparently, you lose that offline collection - or at least that's what my experience has been.

I've seen those notices from device care on my S10+, but I never bother clearing cache and just ignore it. I haven't had any issues and haven't needed to clear cache since I've gotten the phone last autumn.

Oh, I see -- I guess that makes sense, if it's only offline stations, since that would more likely be managed on the device alone.

Man i clear catches at least once a week.
Clear activity too..
Have to sign back into everything.
Turn my phone off and back on.

Phone acts much better to me.
Or am I Hallucinating

Unless something is wrong or you spend a lot of time in some bad websites, you are hallucinating.

Restarting the phone now and then can improve performance, even if only slightly. Clearing cache and logs so often has the opposite effect. Apps and system will rebuild those files using extra resources (battery, internet connection, CPU cycles ...) and performance will be temporarily worse.
