Clearing defaults is not working

I accidentally selected, open always with an specific app, now i want the dialog for "Open with" back.

All the instructions of clearing defaults and going to apps, select the default apps and select "clear defauts" does not work

when I go to the app that opens the pdf by default, in "set as default" there is nothign selected, even though, all the pdf files opens automatically with it.

and this is not the fist time i see that, in all may other android devices is the same. is this a bog or a joke?

Which phone do you have? Try opening your App Drawer, and if there's a 3-dot menu button at the upper right, tap that. If you see "Reset All App Preferences", tap that.
