Cloud services ??

I've been using Google's Picasa for years. Love it. I have the desktop app which is a great organizer. From there you can select photos to upload to picasaweb. It breaks them up into folders as well. Then these folders automatically show up in your Gallery app on your phone.
I don't know what I'd do without it.

Edit: make sure when you upload from your computer to picasaweb that you choose the "original size" option if you wanna keep full resolution. Otherwise it scales it down when it uploads.

Picasa is owned by google now. So you can use G+ to upload your photos instantly OR you can upload to picasa. Doesn't matter because it ends up in the same place.

FYI, just because it goes to G+ doesn't mean people can see it. You can later log on to G+ and decide to "share" some or all of your photos, but the automatic upload just puts it on Google's "cloud" but locked to your account.

FYI, I have it uploading only on wireless. Otherwise, those 23 shots of your dog catching a frizbee will be eating up your monthly allowance quickly!
