I live in Canada and use an Android phone model number LG-P500h, version 2.2, with a Bell Canada SIM card.
At the time of purchase (not from Bell), I was told that the phone is unlocked.
I was able to use it in the UK with a T-mobile SIM.
In Argentina, however, a local provider's prepaid SIM did not work. I was told that the "phone is only good in Canada". :-\
I am now planning travel to China (Shanghai) and would like to buy a local prepaid SIM. I understand that Asia works on the 900 Mhz band, just like the UK, so if my problem in Buenos Aires was a band issue I hope it will not be so in China. I have it set at GSM/WDMA auto, if that matters. I could not find any menu letting me choose band.
