How do I update my PRI/PRL quickly and easily if I'm running CM6. I don't want to lose any data. My understanding is I need to do the following:

1) download a different rom (which rom..can someone please suggest one for me)

2) do a nandroid backup

3) flash the different rom

4) do the updates (could you explain how? Where do I download from? How do I apply? I have my MSL already)

5) restore using my nandroid from step 2?

Thanks!!

prob this will help you (i have not been able to update i am still stuck) i have tried on fresh rom and stock 2.2 rooted rom and nothing

this is from xda forum

There appears to be a much greater success rate when using the RA Recovery vs the Clockwork Recovery. You can get the latest RA Recovery here: [Recovery] [28-August-2010] RA-evo-v1.8.0 - xda-developers

1: Do a NAND Backup 1st...
2: Dial ##786#
3: Hit Menu
4: Press Reset
5: Enter your MSL 6 digit number
6: Phone will reboot into recovery mode
7: Wipe Cache/Dalvik x2
8: Reboot

The phone will go through handsfree activation and update the PRI to 1.40
If it did not just repeat the process until it does.

--------------------------

TheMike1: Why not cut to the chase and do a ##3282#?
This will allow you to Start the Hands Free Activation Process and update your PRI without forcing you to do a Factory Reset.

Steps:
1. Dial ##3282#
2. Enter Edit Mode
3. Enter your MSL
4. Select Data Profile
5. Menu
6. Restore
7. Let Phone Reboot, and Wait and the Hands Free Activation will Start.
8. Repeat until you have 1.40 PRI.

good luck

HTC just needs to release the PRI update ina a .zip or let it be open sourced. this is rediculous, 5 times with each method and no luck, im about to play hacky sac with my EVO.

This method will not work with cyanogen. The programming menu's needed to do this are Sprint specific. Because cyanogen doesn't build his ROM from Sprint base, you do not have access to these menu's.

You would need to use a ROM that's built from a Sprint ROM, update your PRI, then flash cyanogen.

1. HERE is a ROM built off Sprint base that has the programming menus needed.

2. yes

3. Wipe then flash a different ROM

4. Second post shows you how to check for the updated PRI.

5. Yes

If you end up having any questions or issues, here's a THREAD where some folks are already talking about the update.
