Hi all,
Forgive me if this is common knowledge already, Im a n00b, but I spent a good 5+ hours last night searching the forms trying to find out how to get CM7 on my evo 3d after doing the htc unlock method (with hboot 1.5, I updated without thinking), and this morning I finally got it, so I thought I would share it, just incase you all didn't already know how to do it.

First (CWM Recovery)
To flash cwm to the phone you need to do it though fastboot commands. Put your fast boot file and the CWM.zip file in the same folder and CD to that folder, then use one of the following commands:

Windows: fastboot flash recovery cwm-4.0.1.4-shooter.img

Mac: ./fastboot-mac flash recovery cwm-4.0.1.4-shooter.img

Linux: ./fastboot-linux flash recovery cwm-4.0.1.4-shooter.img

After you have flashed CWM you will still not be able to get to recovery directly thorough the phone (it will just restart and boot normally), so you will need to boot if from fastboot using one of the following commands:

Windows: fastboot boot cwm-4.0.1.4-shooter.img

Mac: ./fastboot-mac boot cwm-4.0.1.4-shooter.img

Linux: ./fastboot-linux boot cwm-4.0.1.4-shooter.img

Second (CM7)
After I got to the blue Revolutionary CWM screen I cleared all factory data, cache, and dalvik cache (I'm not sure this is necessary, but I decided I would rather be safe than sorry). After that go back to the main screen and mount your SD card to your computer and drop the CM7.zip file to the root of your SD. Then go back to the main recovery menu and choose install .zip from sd > choose .zip > (select the CM7 .zip) > then hit yes.

Now I found one person who had gotten this far but then when they tried to boot, it just stayed at the first HTC splash screen, this is because for some reason or another you need to flash the boot.img for the whatever rom you are trying to flash from fastboot.

Third (Fastboot flash boot.img)
So after flashing through recovery restart your phone and get back into fastbootUSB. Then on your computer unzip the CM7 file and find the boot.img (it shouldn't be hard to find, its in then first folder) and copy it over to the folder where you have your fastboot/cwm files. Then through the command prompt type one of the following commands:

Windows: fastboot flash boot boot.img

Mac: ./fastboot-mac flash boot boot.img

Linux: ./fastboot-linux flash boot boot.img

After that your done. You should be good to go, just restart your phone and it should boot into CM7!

It looks to me like wifi and 3g are working, but not WiMax, and I havent been able to test GPS yet.

Again I apologize if you all new this already, but I couldn't find any complete instructions on how to make this work.

My phone specs are
HTC Evo 3D CDMA
Bootloader: Unlocked [HTC method]
S status: s-on
hboot: hboot 1.5
Rom: CM7

Thanx for you're post! I was having a hard time getting to recovery. I thought I could get it through my phone

nice dude! thanks for the tip about flashing the boot.img. that was my only hangup! rolling with cm7 on mah shooter now. stoked!

Does the CM7 ROM come with all the Google apps or do you have to flash that zip seperately (like we use to on the EVO 4G)?

This may also be of some help: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1306248

I have not tried it so I cannot comment on how well it works or not, but it looks like you (and all the others in this thread) are not the only one's having problems loading ROMs and Kernels on a rooted 1.5 hboot system.

Is there any further development going on with this ROM? The thread on XDA has been closed. I was really hoping to get CM7 back afterr I had it on my Evo, but with no Wimax, I can't do it.

I am SO GLAD you posted this! I ran into some bugs with Revolutionary and couldn't get CM recovery on my phone at all.

what is the exact file you used for CM7? can you post it if you don't mind. I tried flashing one yesterday and it didn't work so I went with Mym Warm twopointthree. Not bad but it keeps telling me I'm not rooted when I try and access ROM or Wifi Tether app. Maybe CM7 ROM you flashed will not give me this problem
