CM7 random freezes- help

ok so I'm on CM7.1RC1 and have been for a week or so now, with no real issue. Now, however, I keep getting a completely frozen device, and have to do the hard poweroff to get the thing to reboot. Sometimes it'll do it on the first app I load up, sometimes it'll run fine for a while. I don't get why this is happening now.

Are you running off a SD card?

ok well, essentially the issue was that I'd been version hopping, and so all my backups were causing instability within the system. a fresh install (and a loss of apps ) and all is back up and running.
I think that a necessary addition to Titanium Backup is the ability to batch restore JUST apps. not apps and data, just the apps.
