CM7 RC1 released

Does anyone know if USB mounting works in more recent builds? I was running nightly #29 and it would freeze my phone every time I tried to mount it as an external drive. I booted into recovery and loaded the RC1 zip there and then flashed it over #29 (no wipe, as instructed). I am sort of new to this stuff, but my understanding is that RC1 is just a nightly that was deemed stable enough to be the first beta release. So if my thinking is correct, it should just patch everything and bring me up to par with the current release, right? I tried USB mounting after flashing RC1 and it still froze my phone. Is this an isolated incident or still a broken feature in the ROM?

That was fixed with the new .37 kernel, but I think glacierfanclub is correct, don't underclock. In fact, with the new .37 kernel all you need to set on setcpu is a screen off profile. The battery life is really good. I'm at 52% on a 3500 battery after flashing #38 this morning, RC1 this evening and normal usage throughout the day.

You could also flash either invisiblek's .37 kernel or chad's Incredikernel and use the Smartass governor which has a built in screen off profile!

I had some profiles set up in SetCPU but I took your advice and deleted all of them and had it reset to default speeds for the device (998MHz, scaling on demand). I went ahead and tried to USB mount again after this and it froze up still. The weird part is that it is mounting to the internal storage but not the SD card. It used to pop up 2 folders on my desktop (one for the phone storage, one for SD), but now just the one and the screen on the phone freezes after I press "OK" to the warning about applications not working while it is mounted. It's not a huge deal seeing as I don't do this too often and I do have a workaround (recovery), but it would be nice to have everything working as intended. Any more ideas? Am I missing something obvious?

From what you said about folders on the desktop, I'm assuming you're using a mac - I have not tried it on a mac, but I'll give it a shot in the morning when I get into the office. We keep a few around for experimentation purposes! ;)

RC1 Update:

Aparently the new build is out. From what I read on XDA, Rom manager has the correct version and some of the mirror's have the correct version, but the Team ****** site does not have it yet.

The correct md5 for the correct version is

d41522f45d1e21dc2c14f75fe85ec978

Please double check this before downloading and doing a clean install.

Always remember to NANDroid for your protection. ;)

EDIT - The teamdouche site has the correct RC1 now

I was wondering if someone good give me advice....I did the installation as outlined, and it went smooth. I have done several ROMs (mostly all skyraider) in the past so not new to this, BUT....

I have been receiving ALOT of random reboots in the last hour, and several lockups. Does anyone have advice on if a kernel or radio change would help this?

I have chad 2.6.37 kernel now, and the 2.15.00.09.01 radio file.

Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated.

GPS not working after flashing CM RC1

Anyone having GPS issues after flashing to CM RC1? The last time my GPS worked was when I had the last stable ROM back in mid Dec.

Did you accidently restore System data with Titanium?

Also for both issues - try Fix Permissions either in ROMmanager or in Clockwork under Advanced

Hope this helps.

No mac. I steer clear of the fruit. I'm using Windows XP. It always used to mount as two separate drives - back when I was stock and on CM 6.1, but since I started with CM 7 it's had the freezing issue. I don't know if this could be the cause but I am using an SD card that was formatted by my old Blackberry that the oh so helpful Verizon rep put in my phone the day I got it. Like I said though, I've never had trouble accessing anything on the card or transferring files back and forth until I tried mounting while on CM 7.

Has anyone noticed that the 7 nightly build is *slightly* slower than Cyanogen 6 RC2? It's only a few frames, but it feels a little sluggish in comparison to me.

Quick question for you all?

So, last night I flashed the CM7 RC1 over to my phone after a full wipe and I got stuck on the Tap Android screen. Mind you I was coming from CM6.1 Stable and had not installed a nightly build of CM7 yet.

I backed everything out and flashed back to CM6.1 and then flashed over the CM7 Nightly #38.

My question is now that CM7 RC1 is fixed can I just flash that over the top of CM7 Nightly #38 without doing a full wipe? Is there a benefit of doing that or should I just stick with #38 for now?

Any help would be appreciated thanks...

Hmmm... Can you copy the contents of your SD card to a computer with a Card Reader? I would backup the card and make sure it's formated FAT32 and try again.

I've had no recent problems on XP, Vista or 7 mounting.

PS the mac mounted this morning ok for me too.

Either is fine. #39 has a fix for latent images on the rotary lock screen and Cyanogen has said that he will be working on a ton of camera improvments this week, so you may just want to stay with the nightlies.

Nightlies do not require a full wipe, cache and davlik is enough unless you have problems.

Can I ask a dumb question without the ridicule? I am fairly new to my Incredible and having used a Blackberry before with different build of the software, I was wondering how this compares. What are the advantages and disadvantages of rooting the device or flashing a new ROM? Thanks for the help guys, I am just trying to make sure I get as much as I can out of my Incredible.

You are currently running Froyo with Sense, correct? If you run the custom rom you have freedom to do a lot more, and get the benefits of gingerbread:

-new keyboard that is a lot more intuitive
-built in application manager
-better battery life
-ADW launcher built in

Lots more. It's easy to back up your phone, so if you aren't happy just restore your original settings with nandroid.

Welcome to the DINC family! I am also fairly new to the root/rom stuff myself. I recently rooted my phone and started using CM's roms on my phone and they are amazing. The DINC out of the box is a great phone, but unfortunately HTC and Verizon junk up the phone quite a bit. Rooting is the best if you want to uninstall bloatware like City ID and any VCAST apps. Roms actually provide additional functionality to the phone more than what is currently in the release from HTC/VZW on 2.2.1.

The question I have for you is are you a DIY kind of person? Also, do you like to tinker with things that could potentially mess up without panicking? If so then all you need are these Forums and XDA Forums and Cyangenmod Forums and you should be ready to Root and Roll!

Is there a thread somewhere on here with how to do this? I am running Froyo with Sense, and I have Swype as my current keyboard. Can I keep that with this change?

I've had some issues, but here's what I have.

Radio is 2.15.9.01 I tried the EVO one but saw no difference. This one has been solid and improved by 3g speeds by about 20%

Kernel: invisiblek-aosp #28. It's been pretty solid and the radio/kernel mix has fixed some streaming issues I had.

Also upgraded Hboot to .92....now I have no problems at all
