I've been an LG guy for awhile now with my V30/G6 for the past three years. T-Mobile recently had a deal on the Note 9 for 800 and 50 dollars + tax down. Not too bad! Not sure how that happened though since I thought they discontinued it awhile back. I tried the S10 but wasn't feeling it. Had some battery life issues. Not bad mouthing it, but I wasn't impressed for 1000 dollars for a device. Hopefully this shouldn't be an issue with this phone considering how big the battery is. I've always seen and had the impression that the Note line is the king of the smart phones honestly. How do you guys feel about them?

I had a note 8 for a short time and it wasn't too bad. Once again.. battery issues though. Seems like Samsung has a battery drain issue with every device I've tried by them recently. I've tried the Note 8, S9 plus and S10 for short times. Have to say I think the Note 8 had the better battery life out of the 3 though. Never kept any of them because the battery drain always brought me back to my V30 which lasted me all day.

Welcome to the club. I also have had a number of LG phones and have a V20 and V40 that I split my time between when my Note 9 is on the charger. This trio is pretty much my Android A Team.

Thanks! Only bummer is after ordering the device, I found out that it really doesnt have a wide angle option on the camera? I could be wrong though. Thats a bummer as its a thing I regularly use and have been used to using since the LG G6.

I personally found more use for the zoom lens than the ultra wide angle. You might consider getting a good clip on ultra wide like a Moments lens if you really want that feature.

how is the battery (V40) compared to the note 9?I know the note 9 has a bigger battery but I just wanted your input since you have both. I'm kind of wanting to get a V40 just to have an extra cell.

I truly enjoy the Note 9! The finest phone I've ever used in a lot of years! Rock solid, strong battery, excellent reception, crisp display, it does it all.

I totally agree! This is the best battery life I've ever experienced!
I was researching the wife's next phone. I'm her "tech support" as she says and a phone junkie. My coworker tells others, "he is like a computer geek, but with phones". That may be a bit of an exaggeration.
I decided on the Note 9 for her. I got a barely mint 128 on Swappa. We just can't justify paying $1000 for a phone.
Through all of the research for choosing and setting up, I started to get enamored by it. It's a really great phone.
I thought I had the phone I really wanted. A Pixel 2 XL, but it did not impress me at all. Camera quality is not a big deal to me. As long as it takes pictures that can be seen, I'm good.
So, I was really digging the wife's Note 9 and all it could do and theming options and thinking that I would like one, if it could be rooted, but it can't, at least not in the US, AFAIK. I have had a rootable phone, since 2012.
Then I found out about the 512 GB version, WITH EIGHT GIGS OF RAM! It was game over. So I found a mint 8/512 on Swappa with a Whitestone protector and a bunch of cases (I'm also a huge case junkie), for only $150 more than the wife's 6/128.
I have been thoroughly impressed and have no regrets.
I don't use the S-Pen a ton, but really miss it, when driving my S9 around. The best S-Pen feature is being able to select ANY text. Even from pics. It's use as a remote camera shutter it's also very cool.
Colour me happy!

100% agree! The 512/8 version is a very capable phone, especially in combination with dex. It does everything I personally need!

Everyone here says how great the battery life is, you all have Snapdragon version?
Battery life on Exynos version is degrading update after update. Standby drain is ridiculous and when you actually use the phone for anything the battery drops at an alarming rate. Lucky if I cn get 3 hours SOT. No face****, no instagram everything disabled or turned to manual sync.

I have the Exynos Version and it lasts the whole day without problem.

Would love to know your secret, I have factory reset mine multiple times.
The phone was fantastic rill the update to Pie.
To be honest I hardly use the damn thing anymore I use my OnePlus 6T which has a smaller battery, nothing disabled, evwything syncing and still get between 7 and 8 hours SOT over 2 days.

I've got no special secret. I have quite good signal quality of my mobile and WIFI networks which surely helps a bit. Sometimes one certain app running in the background can make a difference.

My WiFi/Signal is excellent.
Have tried the note I safe mode numerous times and no improvement.
I find this a reacuring theam with Samsung phones. The version of Android they are ewleased with is excellent. First operating system update everything goes to ****.

I get easily through the day with both. The V40 is my daily work horse which I use light to moderately for navigation, calls, texts, accessing my agency data base, and so on. I get maybe 5-51/2 hours screen on time with the V40. The Note is my leisure device which I use for mobile photography when I'm out at festivals and concerts. I've never really compared their battery life in terms of how long it takes to deplete one versus the other.
